Artist’s Biography

Bernie Smith
Bernie
started hunting by following his father hunting pheasants. They spent many
seasons pursuing upland birds, big game, and fishing. He spent his teenage
years hunting, fishing, and running a trap-line along the Yellowstone River
in Shepherd, Montana. After graduating from Shepherd High School he earned
his
Bachelors degree in Biology with minors in Earth Science and Chemistry
from Eastern Montana College in 1985. He earned a Masters degree from
Montana State University, Bozeman, Montana in Science Education
in 2005. Bernie received taxidermy training at Montana School of Taxidermy
in Helena, Montana in 2007. He has taught Science at the secondary level
for 15 years and is currently teaching at Colstrip High School in Colstrip,
Montana.

Dorothy Smith
Dorothy grew
up on a farm in Geraldine, Montana near the Missouri River. After
graduating from High School in Geraldine she went to school at Montana
State University in Bozeman Montana, earning a Bachelors degree in Science
and Mathematics in 1977. She earned her Masters degree in Science
Education from Montana State University in 2005. She currently teaches
Math and Chemistry at Colstrip High School. In her free time she loves to
garden native plants at their home in White Sulphur Springs, Montana. She
also enjoys studying the unique geologic features in Montana and
occasional fly-fishing when time allows.
